This is a long walk with the promise of a hot day. We set off along Attrills Lane with views across the Solent to Portsmouth, to the Coastal path at Seagrove. Here we step down onto the sand which becomes pebbles after Nettlestone Point .

With views across the Solent and the ships passing by, we choose a bench for a well deserved coffee break. Continuing on for a few more miles we soon reach Ryde and its 6 miles of sandy beach. The folly of Appley Tower is passed half way along the promenade and then we are at Ryde Town and the pier stretching 1/2 mile into the sea.

Having had lunch by the sea I decide to wade through the surf, several hovercrafts break the silence as they birth and then leave for their return journey back to Portsmouth. Our journey back follows the railway track back to the camp site.
