Another visit in the Motorhome, parking is perfect as a special area is provided in the overflow area away from the large buses.
http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/daysout/properties/osborne-house/eventsThe house does not open until 10. o’clock, so we can have a leisurely breakfast. Since we are up at 8.0’clock, we decide to go visit the Red Squirrel hide and are rewarded with an appearance, 2 in fact, however they do not hang around long enough for a photo call. Ten miles later on the A3055 and we are turning into the drive of Osbourne House. Visitors are invited to wander around 40 of the 250 rooms used by Queen Victoria and Albert, the family and the 70 servants. The house soon feels like a family dwelling rather than a Royal Palace. After an Hour and a half we finish with the final room The Durbar Room, wow what a show piece, designed in the style of a Northern Indian Palace. We then leave by the back door onto the Italianate terrace.
Its a mile and a half walk through the park to the Swiss Cottage, created by Albert for the children, with vegetable plot and museum. A further short stroll and the bathing machine
used by Queen Victoria is exhibited.
After visiting the walled gardens and a cup of tea at the cafe, we are once again setting off back to the site.
